The Nail Technology Program is designed to provide you with realistic knowledge in a friendly, hands-on environment. We'll even assist you in developing your technical abilities! Our ambition is for you to graduate with the requisite professional qualifications to become a skilled nail artist. We'll also teach you how to develop a strong customer base by teaching you industry and people skills.

What does a Nail technician do?
Fingernails and toenails are cleaned, filed, trimmed, polished, and repaired by nail technicians. They address therapies with customers, such as artificial nail application or hand and foot moisturization, and sell additional services and merchandise. Manicures and pedicures are among the only luxuries that certain women and men really cannot do without.
Nail Technician Responsibilities:
Providing high-quality manicures and pedicures, which includes removing old nail polish from fingernails and toenails, cleaning nails, shaping the ends of nails, pushing back cuticles, and applying new polish based on clients’ preferences.
Applying artificial nails.
Recommending various nail designs and nail art to clients.
Evaluating the condition of clients’ nails and advising them on proper nail care and suitable nail care treatments.
Sanitizing all nail instruments and equipment before each use.
Ensuring that workstations are kept clean and orderly.
Ensuring that nail and massage supplies are adequately stocked.
Providing quality hand and foot massages.
Skills
Communication: Understanding a client's expectations and desires necessitates excellent organizational skills. When practicing, clients often explain what they want and don't want, and the opportunity to interpret these demands is critical.
Creativity with nail styles and designs, would require a lot of imagination. The business can be fiercely competitive, and the desire to think outside the box is essential for attracting customers.
Dexterity: Healthy mobility skills can lead to a happier customer when do their job. Be able to recognize differences in colors and shades, and have an understanding of fashion, art, and design.
Organization: Multiple clients are often used by nail technician in a single day. In this position, the ability to remain coordinated and handle time effectively and productively is critical.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course requirements, the determined graduate will be able to:
1. Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self-confidence.
2. Practice effective communications skills, visual poise, and proper grooming.
3. Respect the need to deliver worthy service for value received in an employer-employee relationship.
4. Perform the basic manipulative skills in nail care.
5. Perform the basic analytical skills to determine appropriate nail care services to achieve the best look for each client.
6. Apply academic and practical learning and related information to ensure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures.

Attendance: Students are expected to participate in weekly class discussion/activities. Participation is noted and points are assigned. Therefore, “online” attendance at class is imperative. Unexcused absence(s) may affect your final grade.
Withdrawal: All withdrawals must be processed through the Registrar’s Office.
Late assignments: Assignments are due on the day listed in the syllabus. Assignments submitted late may be penalized.
Academic Honesty: Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any writing assignment or oral presentation required for the course. Any student who violates this policy will receive a grade of F as defined in the college catalog.
Instructional Methods: Student will assume an active role in the conduct of the classes as discussion leaders, presenters and collaborative research partners.
Seminar Requirements
All out-of-class written assignments must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and must follow the guidelines of the APA manual 7th edition.
1. Readings: In order to respond intelligently you will need to read supporting articles and several books. You will be judged in class on your ability to participate in discussions and respond to various questions related to the topics for the class.
2. Multiple Choice Test: Students will complete a mid-term & final multiple choice examination.
