Michael University's carpentry program is preparatory to the field of carpentry, offering theory and hands-on classes to prepare students for a carpentry apprenticeship. These programs are generally two-year programs and may include courses such as tools, documentation, carpentry skills, and safety techniques. Our carpentry program will provide the training, skills, and knowledge you need.
The construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials, working from plans, design, measurement, marking, and layout of materials in accordance with local building codes, cutting and shaping of wood with hand tools and electrical, joining materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives are just some of the skills that will be mastered during this program.

Use hand and power tools and testing equipment required for performing work in the building construction industry in accordance with industry standards.
Perform calculations and measurements required for work in the building construction industry.
Construct and install interior/exterior walls, stairs, doors, windows, roof components, flooring, and exterior finish for various residential and commercial constructions that meet customer specifications and industry standards.

Academic Honesty: Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any writing assignment or oral presentation required for the course. Any student who violates this policy will receive a grade of F as defined in the college catalog.
Instructional Methods: Student will assume an active role in the conduct of the classes as discussion leaders, presenters and collaborative research partners.

All out-of-class written assignments must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and must follow the guidelines of the APA manual 7th edition.
1. Readings: In order to respond intelligently you will need to read supporting articles and several books. You will be judged in class on your ability to participate in discussions and respond to various questions related to the topics for the class.
2. Multiple Choice Test: Students will complete a mid-term & final multiple-choice examination.
