Their duties include consulting with clients to select an appropriate treatment, preparing a sanitary environment before a procedure and offering treatments such as facials, extractions, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and waxing.

Their duties include consulting with clients to select an appropriate treatment, preparing a sanitary environment before a procedure and offering treatments such as facials, extractions, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and waxing.
What does an esthetic technician do?
Estheticians specialize in spas and salons, but others also work in Dermatologists' offices, doing non-medical beauty therapies and beautifying techniques to make people feel happier about their looks or attain a certain look. Until applying carefully chosen creams, gels, and other therapies, estheticians use their experience of skin conditions to correctly moisturize and exfoliate a client's skin. For clients who like to be pampered, estheticians provide treatments such as facial massage. They will perform procedures of natural foods, additives, and specialist equipment, as well as provide aftercare guidance and quality recommendations to their customers.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate a customer’s skin condition and offer recommendations for treatments
Recommend skincare products to customers, including lotions, facial washes and moisturizers
Wax or pluck unwanted hair
Complete facials with the intention of moisturizing and cleaning
Maintain beauty and skincare tools
Skills
Creativity, would require a lot of imagination. The business can be fiercely competitive, and the desire to think outside the box is essential for attracting customers.
Dexterity: Healthy mobility skills can lead to a happier customer when do their job. Be able to recognize differences in colors and shades, and have an understanding of fashion, art, and design.
Organization: Multiple clients are often used by esthetics technician in a single day. In this position, the ability to remain coordinated and handle time effectively and productively is critical.
Students should enjoy working with the public and be willing and able to follow instructions.
Communication: Estheticians will recommend certain skincare treatments, products and procedures based on the needs of the customer. Strong communication skills are important to understand these needs. Nonverbal communication skills will assist the esthetician in understanding when the customer is uncomfortable during a treatment or service.
Problem-solving: Customers will often turn to an esthetician to solve their skincare problems. Whether they are dealing with dry skin or facial hair, it is the role of the esthetician to find a solution to their problem.
Sales: Sales skills can assist an esthetician in succeeding in their role.
Time management: Estheticians often see multiple clients in one day and sticking to a schedule is important. The ability to organize and monitor time is necessary to meet customer needs, especially when dealing with strict time requirements.
Sales: Sales skills can assist an esthetician in succeeding in their role. It is often the responsibility of both the health club and the esthetician to bring in additional customers for skincare services and sometimes to sell products as well.

5. Perform the basic analytical skills to determine appropriate Skin care services to achieve the best look for each client.
6. Apply academic and practical learning and related information to ensure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures.

Attendance: Students are expected to participate in weekly class discussion/activities. Participation is noted and points are assigned. Therefore, “online” attendance at class is imperative. Unexcused absence(s) may affect your final grade.
Withdrawal: All withdrawals must be processed through the Registrar’s Office.
Late assignments: Assignments are due on the day listed in the syllabus. Assignments submitted late may be penalized.
Academic Honesty: Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any writing assignment or oral presentation required for the course. Any student who violates this policy will receive a grade of F as defined in the college catalog.
Instructional Methods: Student will assume an active role in the conduct of the classes as discussion leaders, presenters and collaborative research partners.
Seminar Requirements
All out-of-class written assignments must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and must follow the guidelines of the APA manual 7th edition.
1. Readings: In order to respond intelligently you will need to read supporting articles and several books. You will be judged in class on your ability to participate in discussions and respond to various questions related to the topics for the class.
2. Multiple Choice Test: Students will complete a mid-term & final multiple choice examination.
